About us

About us
The ERIS project brings together academic institutions, hospitals, research centres, companies, and medical experts from across Europe. This multidisciplinary collaboration drives innovation in simulation-based training and education in electrophysiology.

A European Initiative for Electrophysiology Training
The ERIS project is a European collaborative initiative supported by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme. Funded through the call HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-ERA-02-01, ERIS brings together leading institutions across Europe with the shared goal of advancing simulation-based medical education in electrophysiology. The project strengthens cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based training for specialists, while contributing to a more cohesive and innovative European Research Area.

Hospital de Sant Pau - Sant Pau Campus Salut Barcelona
Fundació de Gestió Sanitaria Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (HSP) is a university hospital linked to the Autonomous University of Barcelona, an innovative hospital performing hight complex procedures. HSP is the coordinator of the ERIS project, and will oversee the overall project management, including administrative, legal, and financial responsibilities, collaborate with all other partners to ensure that the project is implemented according to the agreed timeline and deliverables. In addition to its managerial role, HSP will also contribute to the development and management of the educational program, providing access to its advanced facilities. HSP’s expertise in clinical education and patient care will be instrumental in ensuring that the training provided by the ERIS Institute is of the highest quality and that it improves patient outcomes across Europe.

Clinique Pasteur - Toulouse
Clinique Pasteur Toulouse (CPT) is one of the most innovative and renowned cardiovascular centers in Europe for cardiovascular research and education. It will collaborate closely with VUB and HSP to co-develop the academic curriculum and oversee the management of the training programs. CPT will also be involved in the strategic management of the ERIS institution, leading the strategic partnerships and business model development, ensuring that all training courses are delivered effectively and that trainees receive high-quality practical experience in both simulation and live clinical settings. CPT’s participation will ensure that the educational program is comprehensive and aligned with the current real-world needs of healthcare professionals and patients.

Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is one of the leading academic institutions in Europe, VUB will be primarily responsible for the academic curriculum development for electrophysiologists, in collaboration with ESC/EHRA, and other healthcare professionals. VUB’s role includes designing and validating training modules that integrate both theoretical knowledge and practical experience through simulation-based education. VUB will collaborate with other partners, such as ESC/EHRA and HSP, to ensure that the curriculum is aligned with the latest advancements in cardiac electrophysiology and meets the certification standards set by the EU. Additionally, VUB will contribute to the research and innovation aspects of the project, particularly coordinating in the development of proficiency-based progression methods.

European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA)
European Society of Cardiology (ESC) represented by its branch European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) brings an extensive network of associates and established connections with sister societies. As partner in the consortium, it is uniquely positioned and will play a pivotal role in the dissemination of knowledge and setting academic standards for the ERIS project. ESC/EHRA will collaborate closely with the VUB and CPT to co-create the academic curriculum and contribute to the certification process for the educational modules. As a representative of the wider cardiovascular community, will help ensure that the training provided by ERIS meets European Union (EU) standards and is aligned with the latest innovations in electrophysiology. ESC/EHRA will also be responsible for disseminating the outcomes of the project to a broader audience, including healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patients.

VALDE Innova
El Sitio de Valdelatarra S.L. (VALDE) is a consulting company with expertise in project management in European Projects, ecosystems development, and business modeling. VALDE will contribute in ERIS to project management and support services development. VALDE will work in close collaboration with HSP and CPT to create a robust business model for the long-term sustainability of the Institute, ensuring scalability to other medical specialties and expansion to other European regions. VALDE will also coordinate stakeholder engagement and help secure funding from both public and private sources to support the continued growth of the ERIS Institute. VALDE will support the co-creation processes along the project execution.
